内藤 天来 Naito Tenrai (1886-1978)
Tenrai studied under Tanaka Hakuin 田中 柏陰 (1866-1934), who introduced him to Tanomura Chokunyu 田能村 直入 (18141907) as a pupil to learn Southern School painting. While he produced masterpieces in landscapes, figures, flowers and birds, his true genius lay in works where calligraphy and painting were perfectly integrated. He died in Fukuyama in 1978 at the age of 92.
Artist: 藤井 松山 - Fujii Shozan(1880-1967)
Fujii Shozan's common name was Fujii Shukichi 藤井 松林, his courtesy name was Hiromoto 廣基, and his pen name was Matsuyama 松山. He studied the Maruyama school 円山派 of painting under Fujii Shorin 藤井 松林 and later studied under Suzuki Shonen 鈴木 松年 in Kyoto. In 1934, he returned to his hometown of Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture. He specialized in flower and bird painting, landscapes, and figure painting.
